The Ruocoo Family and especailly to Alex and Joe for raising £115 from a fun run!

Claire and Adri from Devon recently sent us this: “Hope you are all well up in Bristol? We are all well down here in Devon, Alex and Joe are really well and enjoying their 6 weeks holidays. I just wanted to let you know that we have just donated £125.00 (plus gift aid £31.25) to the FUN Club through your donate page, this money was raised by Alex and Joe doing a 1 mile fun run back in June 2013. I have enclosed 2 photos of the boys with their medals, please would you share this with all the Fun Club staff and once again thank you and everyone for all they do. Many thanks, love Claire, Adri, Joe and Alex xxxxxx”

The very first Frenchay Hafla was held on 5th February 2012. This was a fantastic event in which key members of the FUN Club Committee and their Asian Dancing Group treated 100 guests to an amazing evening of belly dancing to some beautiful Asian music. The evening was a tremendous success and raised over £800 for our future events.

Glyn Shepherd is the father of Young Frenchay ex-patient Tom and in order to express his gratitude to the BRCU teams, he decided to sponser the shedding of his bountiful locks. Clearly, it was a very serious business, but it made all of us at FUN Club very happy because he has raised over £1200 for us. We are very grateful and hope that his acclimatisation to all that cold air is going well.

A big Thank You to others who have recently supported F.U.N Club. Recent donations include:

The Kibria Family for raising £200!

The production of Singin in the Rain (www.singinintherain.co.uk) and Bristol Hippodrome for their bucket collections and raising £2,965!

Jack Colley lives close to Frenchay Hospital and has became a very enthusiastic supporter of FUN Club. In April last year he and his family ran the Bristol 10K and in September ran the half marathon. On both events there were three generations of Colleys running together through and round the city wearing shirts emblazoned with slogan: The Colleys Run For Fun! They have so far raised over £1200 and have thouroughly enjoyed themselves. They used a mydonate page to help them manage their fundraising: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/colley. We are very grateful to them and Jack reports that they have really enjoyed raising money for FUN Club. We have promised them that their efforts will be very much appreciated by FUN Club members.

Connie Hiam and The Brave Bath Buskers. Connie and her friends, for the second year, busked in the streets in Bath with their stringed instruments and raised lots of money for us.

Ex-patient and FUN Club member Rob Jones, who has worked really hard to raise money and donated the fantastic sum of £800. This is a picture of Rob (third from right) his sister, Laura, his parents, unit manager, Rosie, and staff members Janet and Chris, on the visit they made to hand over their very generous cheque.

The Masons Arms in Stapleton, Bristol raised £53
Frenchay Hospital Social club raised £26

At Podimore Shooting Ground Spring 2008, a fund-raising event was organised by Paul Bennett, family and friends. Pauls' grandaughter had been a patient in the BRCU and the day was organised as a way of saying thank you to the Unit. It was a very successful day, raising £2200 for FUN Club! Many thanks to all who participated. Will and Julie from FUN Club also visited Podimore and had a great day out (with variable success with the guns).Use the link above to visit the shooting ground's website to find out what they have to offer!

The annual Frenchay 10 km Charity Road Run this year nominated The FUN Club and the Jessie May Trust, a charity that that provides support for children with terminal illnesses, as the sole recipients of the money earned. The race was held on Sunday 20th April on a dry and fairly warm day and several Frenchay staff members, including the FUN Club chairperson, Julie Fisher, ran the course, despite never having attempted anything like this before. Other FUN Club members - Will, Debbie, Sally and Sian brought along family members to act with them as marshalls. The runners were fantastic - there were more of them than ever before and lots of money has been raised.

A very kind donation from Kerry Hampson and the Toad Hall Nursery in Okehampton. They have been very generous, running lots of fundraising activities.

Congratulations and thanks go to one of our parents, Claire Hardy, who recently got married and asked for donations to the FUN Club be made in lieu of wedding presents.

Hansons Sport and Leisure Club in Chipping Sodbury held a Quiz Night to raise funds for the FUN Club.
Close to Frenchay, a local pub, The Fishponds Tavern held a charity night and raised funds for us.

King Arthur's Lodge in Cornwall sent us £400 they had raised on our behalf.

The Frenchay Float is run by Stephan Payne, and accompanied by FUN Club personnel and other hospital supporters wearing festive outfits, the float rumbles through quiet Bristol suburbs playing tremendously loud christmas music with accompanying flashing lights, and - amazingly- is greeted with glee and generosity by residents. The float has raised money for us over several years and each time has raised over £1000 for us.

Veronica Gosling gave us a very generous personal donation. Always appreciated!
